TrakCare Backgrounder

About TrakCare

InterSystems TrakCare™, installed in leading healthcare organisations in 25 countries, is an advanced Web-based healthcare information system that rapidly delivers patient-centric data and Electronic Patient Record benefits. In addition to providing a complete enterprise-wide clinical and administrative solution, TrakCare quickly and seamlessly integrates with information from legacy systems and multi-vendor solutions. Individual modules may be quickly implemented to solve immediate, pressing problems or can be adopted as an integrated portfolio to serve more expansive needs.

Two capabilities set TrakCare apart from other healthcare information systems:
“FastTrak to EPR”: A unique combination of information architecture, advanced database and integration technology from InterSystems, and a streamlined implementation methodology that delivers an Electronic Patient Record with record speed.

Unmatched flexibility: “Rapid Tailoring” features and system management tools enable TrakCare customers to quickly address changes in technology, administration, and healthcare policies. Workflow can be readily modified to match local hospital requirements.

Current TrakCare modules include:

  • TrakCare Clinicals – workbenches and tools for healthcare providers to assist with the safe and efficient provision and documentation of patient care while seamlessly building patient-centric information

  • TrakCare Patient Administration System (PAS) – the full suite of patient-focused care functions for managing Web-based patient demographic and administrative information for inpatient, outpatient and community care

  • TrakCare Emergency – blending the full gamut of administrative through clinical functions for the fast-paced emergency environment from triage to admission or discharge

  • TrakCare LAB – integrates all clinical laboratory functions including biochemistry, immunology, serology, haematology, blood transfusion, cellular pathology and microbiology from common phlebotomy through EPR reported results

  • TrakCare Community – a rich Web-based environment facilitating the continuance of service beyond the confines of inpatient care. Services planned or rendered at the community centre and/or the client's place of residence are viewable via a comprehensive diary-based EPR

  • TrakCare Polyclinic - clinical, location, administration and billing functionality provide the clinical and non clinical teams with access to the clinic data in real time

TrakCare is enabling a “FastTrak to EPR” at leading healthcare organizations around the world:

Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh Goes Live with TrakCare in Less Than Six Months

At the Royal Infirmary, the new TrakCare patient information system was up and running in less than six months from the contract being signed between NHS Lothian and InterSystems. The solution provides staff with fingertip access to patient information from all locations.

The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh was the first of four acute hospitals to implement the TrakCare solution in the Lothian region of Scotland. TrakCare enables a core patient record for all inpatient, outpatient, and accident and emergency (A&E) department episodes of care, as well as supports all waiting list activity. The system exchanges information with the existing local and national applications, including the Scottish Community Health Index (CHI) for national health numbering and the Scottish Care Information (SCI) store for care summary information.

Brazilian Federal District Government Quickly Reaps Benefits from TrakCare Implementation

Brasilia, the federal district of Brazil, is in the midst of an ambitious three-year project to modernise the delivery and administration of healthcare in the city. They are implementing TrakCare software and are already enjoying some of the benefits that come from having a state-of-the-art EPR system.

When complete, the Integrated GDF (Governo do Distrito Federal) Healthcare System will connect all the healthcare centres, diagnostic laboratories, public pharmacies, and hospitals of the Federal District. It will also interface with national programs run by Brazil’s Department of Health. Each of the Federal District’s 2.5 million residents will be issued a “Citizen’s Health Card” that grants instant, secure access to all of their personal medical files.
